Sue S. Bancroft Women’s Leadership Hall

Jane Nelson Institute for Women’s Leadership
Texas Woman’s University, Denton, Texas

The Sue S. Bancroft Women’s Leadership Hall is a permanent exhibit that celebrates the legacy of Texas women in politics and public policy. It will educate students about accomplished Texas women leaders and inspire young women to become leaders themselves.

Amaze Design created exhibits for three galleries. First, “Pioneering Women” is an exhibit about 12 Texan women from diverse backgrounds who discovered their passions and determination to make lasting impacts on politics and public policy. Next, in the “Learning Gallery” and “Civics Center,” visitors can learn about the Texas women who made the 2018 midterm elections significant. Here, digital media programs—created in partnership with iCivics—offer a fun way to learn about running a Texas County municipality. Also featured is an exhibit about iCivics founder Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, the first woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. And finally, in the changing exhibits gallery, visitors will learn about Texas women’s suffrage through the lens of Minnie Fisher Cunningham. This powerful Texas suffragist fought for women’s right to vote. Her story is a fascinating example of the struggle for women’s rights, and her influence on the movement still resonates today.
